Husoni Raymond Named NB Multicultural Council鈥檚 International Student Champion

Husoni Raymond has been recognized by the New Brunswick Multicultural Council for his outstanding leadership and promotion of cultural diversity within the 91大神 community.

 

The fourth-year STUdent from Kingston, Jamaica, received the council鈥檚 International Student Champion award, which is presented to an individual who is actively involved in their community, offers support to their peers, and promotes and celebrates the contributions of international students.

 

鈥淚鈥檓 humbled to have been nominated and selected for this award,鈥 Raymond said. 鈥淒uring my time at 91大神, I鈥檝e learnt the value of serving others to positively impact our community and I鈥檇 like to thank my community at 91大神 for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for international students to grow and reach their full potential.鈥

 

Raymond has been involved in the STU community through Moot Court鈥攔epresenting the university at national and international competitions鈥攁nd has been active in the Students鈥 Union, serving as the Vice-President Administration before becoming the first black student to be elected President. He鈥檚 also spearheaded Black History Month events on campus the past two years, which included panel discussions, poetry nights, and documentary screenings.

 

Raymond believes continuing to serve others will make New Brunswick鈥攁nd the STU community鈥攁 top choice for international students.

 

鈥淭ogether, we can transform New Brunswick into the leading destination for international students, immigrants and refugees to live, work, grow and raise families. I would like to dedicate this award to all the Champions, for the work they do to achieve this common goal. There鈥檚 much work ahead of us, but together we will get it done.鈥
