Graduate School and Scholarship Information Session
2:30 PM
BMH 101
Thinking about graduate school? Wondering what your options are? Keen to find out about funding and scholarships?
Please join Dr. Peter Toner, Associate Vice-President (Research), for an information session (presentation and Q&A) on Friday, October 11th from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
This information session will cover topics including selecting a graduate program, selecting a faculty mentor at STU to help you to prepare your applications, writing a research proposal and preparing a CV, tips on obtaining letters of reference, and how to obtain funding to support your studies. A particular focus of the information session will be to explain the Canada Graduate Scholarship program administered by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research.
Please keep in mind that you can start preparing now. The most important thing that you can do is to approach a faculty member at STU who is willing to be your mentor throughout the process—a person who is knowledgeable about your field of study, will read through drafts of your supporting documentation, and who is in a position to offer good advice.
Before the information session, you are also encouraged to visit the , which contains detailed information and instructions on what the application requires.
